Monday was a sad day for me. The young lady, Naomi Svendsen, that lost her life in a car accident last week was laid to rest. She was a special young lady who had a smile for everyone and a compassion that was uncommon for her age. Horses, dogs, people… all were spoke about at her service as having been touched by her compassion and kindness.
It was evident that she touched many people. My untrained eye estimated around 400 people in attendance.
She was only 2-1/2 weeks older than my Kayleen. They grew up together, going to church, etc. Cherish your children and hug them close.
Earlier in the week…
I was talking with Kayla recently… my tolerance levels are down. Kayla says that my “baloney” meter is pegged out. I have to agree with her. It used to be that I could let things go, but doggon it… If we are spending so much money on public schools, why is it that no one knows the difference between there, their, and they’re; to, too and two; you get the picture. I understand quick communication… and many times I get keys “firing” right hand before left hand, but when you’re online (especially) and trying to communicate information, how about having some standards. In a private offline conversation, I asked that question and the response I got was, “What do you expect, this is Douglas County.”
I nearly blew a gasket. That was right after we got the news that Roseburg Forest Products was moving much of their headquarter operation to Springfield. I immediately saw the correlation. EERRRGGG, I was told that a 12-step program may be necessary for me. <smiles>
Wanna know another gripe? LOL, really? Are you really laughing out loud? Or… as I just learned from a friend, SALTS…Smiled A Little Then Stopped…. That’s what normally happens when you’re at your computer and see a joke. You SALTS. You don’t ROTFL… very seldom have I EVER seen anyone rolling on the floor.
Something along that line, however, that I want to pay very close attention to is when I’m talking to friends, either online or in person and tell them that I’ll pray for them, that I actually do. I see it all the time on Facebook, a siren is reported going one way or another and someone types, “prayers”. I want to be one that instead of typing “prayers” to bow my head and take a moment in prayer.
Time’s gone, have a wonderful week.
